If you're taking birth control pills and hoping to get pregnant fast, it may be helpful to stop taking them a few months before trying to conceive.

The same advice goes for other forms of hormonal birth control, including vaginal rings, patches, intrauterine devices (IUDs), and implants. If you are using Depo-Provera, on the other hand, you should stop that about nine months before you start trying as it takes time to leave your system.

"After you've been using [hormonal] birth control for a while, it may take your body a few cycles to start ovulating regularly and be primed for pregnancy," says Dr. Williams.
