Welcome to Machynlleth
Machynlleth is located in the lower Dyfi Valley about 10 miles inland from the mouth of the River Dyfi on the west coast of Wales, in the county of Montgomeryshire, approximately 206 miles north-west of London and 15 miles north-east of Aberystwyth.
The town has a population of around 2,000.

Administratively it is within the local government district of Powys (one of 22 principal areas of Wales) which covers an area of approximately 5,196 sq kms and which has a population of around 126,000.
It is a small market town which in recent years has increasingly become known for its focus on 'environmentally friendly' living, with the Centre for Alternative Technology being based here.
The town holds an important place in Welsh history as the location for Owain Glyndwr's parliament and where he was proclaimed king in 1404, and the Glyndwr Parliament House is one of the primary visitor attractions. The town's most notable landmark, however, and situated at its centre, is the 80ft high clocktower built in the late 19th-century.
